2004 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New turbos bring affordable power. introductionthe chrysler pt cruiser has become a familiar sight. The cruiser combines the retro looks of a late-1930's american sedan with modern styling and features. It made a big splash when it was introduced as a 2001 model. That was back in march 2000, and chrysler has been selling more than 135,000 of them a year. In spite of this, the pt cruiser still attracts attention. People are intrigued by the cruiser's difficult-to-define character. Chrysler says the pt cruiser is too cool to categorize. It boasts the interior volume of a sport-utility vehicle. Pull the rear seats out and it'll haul a load of building materials or a big tv box. Yet it's shorter in length than many compact cars, making it easy to park. It's also easy on gas.  adding to the fun is the driving experience. The cruiser is based on the dodge neon, a compact car noted for sprightly performance. New turbo models add fire under the hood. The gt (aka pt turbo) features a 220-horsepower engine that gives the cruiser a real boost. We also like affordability. On the downside, the pt cruiser has all the refinement of a compact car.  new features are available for the 2004 models to enhance the cruiser's sophistication. An optional power convenience group 705) adds remote keyless entry, automatic power central locking, and power exterior mirrors, and cruise control. The gt also comes with side-impact airbags and most of the limited edition's luxury goodies. A new option for 2004 is sirius satellite radio, which is offered on all models. The cost of the receiver 325) includes a one-year subscription. Also new for 2004 is uconnect, chrysler group's hands-free, in-vehicle communications system 360), which uses bluetooth technology to link the user's cellular phone with the cruiser's stereo speakers. Appearance packages include woodgrain exterior accents, the chrome accent group (expanded for 2004), and the chrome-and-leather dream cruiser 3. walkaroundthe chrysler pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930's american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and teardrop-shaped taillight lenses. But that's not all there is to the pt cruiser. The shape is intriguing, but underneath is a modern platform with front-wheel drive.  by exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's nearly 6 inches shorter than a neon subcompact. Yet with 63 inches from pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser is also 7 inches taller than the neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the gt is distinguished from the other models by its chrome exhaust tips, larger grille and air intakes, and a spoiler on its liftgate; however, the spoiler 150) is an option on the other models. interiorthe pt cruiser pulls its exterior styling themes into the cabin with painted inserts on its t-shaped symmetrical dashboard. The driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. The gt's silver-faced speedometer reads up to 140 mph, while the standard cruiser's speedo goes to 110.  accessory switches are concentrated in the center panel, with radial-type climate control dials. The door levers have a nice action, and the switches operate with good tactile feel, though they're not world class. The stereo sounds tinny. Also, there's a separate set button for the station presets, fussier than simply holding the preset down.  a bonus of the cruiser's tall profile is its upright seating position, with a fairly high view ahead, somewhat like a sport-utility vehicle or minivan. The front seats in the three lower-line models have a reasonable amount of bolstering to keep driver and passenger from sliding side to side. The gt also features a chrome-spoked, leather wrapped steering wheel, and chrome pedals.  roominess is a virtue in the cruiser. Its 121. 5 cubic feet of interior volume is comparable to that of large cars such as the mercedes-benz s-class or lincoln town car. Much of that space is a function of the cruiser's height. The roof rises toward the rear like on a chopped-top hot rod.  to take advantage of this, the rear seat bottoms are higher than those in front, resulting in what what the industry calls theater seating. The front seats are mounted on tall boxes, leaving plenty of room for rear passengers to stretch their legs underneath. A six-foot, nine-inch passenger can fit comfortably in the front or rear seats.  chrysler claims the pt cruiser's cabin can be configured 26 different ways. This flexibility stems from three features: a 65/35 split rear bench that can be folded flat, tumbled forward or removed; a movable parcel shelf; and an available front passenger seat that folds flat. The rear seats are anchored with quick-release attachments for easy removal. Suitcase handles and steel wheels make it easier to stash them in the garage and move them about. The smaller seat weighs 35 pounds, but the larger section weighs a hefty 65 pounds. The cruiser can provide up to 64 cubic feet of cargo volume. Still, a mountain bike doesn't really fit without removing the front wheel, removing the rear seats, or both. Seatbelts should always be worn, however, and the pt cruiser comes with three-point safety harnesses at all positions, including the rear center position. The front belts have pyrotechnically charged tensioner. driving impressionthe pt cruiser is fun to drive. In essence, it's a tall, practical economy car, but the pt cruiser goes relatively quickly. The standard engine is rated at 150 horsepower and 165 pounds-feet of torque. This is enough power to propel. 2003 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Turbocharger turns this cruiser into a hot rod. introductionlast year the flames were on the outside of the pt cruiser. For 2003, there's more fire under the hood. The 2003 pt turbo gets significant handling upgrades to go with its more powerful engine. The end result is the hot rod many wanted when the cruiser was first introduced.  though it has become a familiar sight, the cruiser still attracts attention. People from all walks and stations want a better look, intrigued by the cruiser's difficult-to-define character. It is, as chrysler says, too cool to categorize.  the two strongest virtues of the cruiser are its practicality and its affordable price. These two virtues make the pt cruiser suitable for everyday use. All of the limited edition's luxury goodies are available as options.  options on the other models include antilock disc brakes with traction control 595), engine block heater 35), and a roof rack 175).  . walkaroundchrysler's pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930's american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and bullet-shaped taillight lenses. But that's not all that makes up the pt cruiser. The shape is intriguing, but underneath is a modern platform with front-wheel drive.  by exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's nearly 6 inches shorter than a neon subcompact. Yet with 63 inches from pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser is also 7 inches taller than a neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the pt turbo is distinguished from the other models by its chrome exhaust tips and larger grille and air intakes.  . interiorthe pt cruiser pulls exterior styling themes into the cabin with painted inserts on its t-shaped symmetrical dashboard. The driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. The turbo's silver-faced speedometer reads up to 140 mph, while the standard cruiser goes only to 110. Switches are concentrated in the center panel, with radial-type climate control dials and a single pair of buttons for the front windows. The door levers have a nice action and the switches operate with good tactile feel, not world class, but a noticeable improvement over chrysler's sloppy mid-1990s standard.  the same improvement applies to the interior finish. The leather package, in particular, has a rich appearance, given the cruiser's price, with suede inserts in the doors and along the lower cushion edges.  the front seats have a reasonable amount of bolster to keep driver and passenger from sliding side to side in the three lower-line models, but the turbo gets more padding in its side bolsters. And with 120. 2 cubic feet of interior volume, there's no premium on space in the pt cruiser. The government's standard for defining a large car, like the mercedes-benz s-class or lincoln town car, is 120 cubic feet.  all that space is largely a function of the cruiser's height. Its roof rises toward the rear, and its rear seat bottoms are higher than those in front are. The industry calls this 'theater seating.' the front seats are mounted on tall boxes, leaving plenty of room for rear passengers to stretch their legs underneath. We tested a six-foot, nine-inch passenger who fit comfortably front or rear, and, no, he wasn't an nba star.  chrysler claims the pt cruiser's cabin can be configured 26 different ways. We didn't count, but there are clearly a lot of options. This flexibility stems from three features: a 65/35 split rear bench that can be folded flat, tumbled forward or removed, a movable parcel shelf, and an available front passenger seat that folds flat. The rear seats are anchored with quick-release attachments, and fitted with suitcase-style handles for lifting and steel wheels for rolling. The smaller section weighs 35 pounds, while the larger section weighs a hefty 65 pounds.  the load floor measures 40 inches between the wheel wells. With the front passenger seatback folded flat onto the bottom cushion, there's a table next to the driver and in front of the rear passengers. Even better, there can be more than 8 feet of flat surface between the dashboard and the tailgate. Front passenger side-impact airbags are standard on the limited edition and optional on the other models. Seatbelts should always be worn, however, and the pt cruiser comes with three-point safety harnesses at all positions, including the rear seat's center position. The front belts have pyrotechnically charged tensioners, just like luxury cars, to keep the belts tight during an impact. The rear bench is equipped with child-seat tethers.  . driving impressionpt cruiser was introduced with styling as its main draw, and when onlookers found out there was no hot-rod v8 motivating the wagon, many were shocked. At heart, the pt cruiser is an economy car, not a hot-rod. In reality, though, the pt cruiser's power-to-weight ratio is better than the volkswagen golf's. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a lively 8. 5 seconds and can cover the quarter-mile dragstrip in about 16. 7 seconds. So the pt cruiser is relatively quick for an economy car.  the turbo model is another story: it feels like it's got a bigger engine under the hood. High-tech oil jets spray the undersides of the pistons to keep them cool because turbocharged engines make a lot of heat as well as power.  the turbo's engine reaches its peak of 215 horsepower 500 rpm sooner than the 150-hp base engine, at 5000 rpm. Horsepower is only part of the story, because torque is increased dramatically from 162 pounds-feet at 4000 rpm to a wheel-twisting 245 lbs.-ft. In fact, 220 lbs.-ft. Is available at just 2300 rpm. A rumbly exhaust makes the car sound more like what most people expected when the hot-rod body was first introduced. The 2. 4-liter happens to be the base engine in chrysler's minivans; for the cruiser, improvements were geared toward reducing noise and vibration rather than increasing power.  the base pt cruiser can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8. 5 seconds (when equipped with the manual transmission), which is more than respectable for a car in this price range, while we estimate the turbo can get to 60 mph in about 7 seconds. We tried the manual, which is surprisingly precise; it's not sports-car grade, but not bad for a longer-throw gate with a lever that's a foot long. Working the gears to get the most from the base engine is pleasing. The automatic isn't as effective as the five-speed at getting the base cruiser cruising, because the power is biased toward higher rpm, which is not where automatics work best. With properly timed dips of the accelerator, there's enough torque for safe, clean overtaking on two-lane roa. 2005 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Top-down fun or wagon-like practicality in a gangstermobile. introductionchrysler pt cruiser combines the retro look of a late-'30s american sedan with modern performance, efficiency and features. The pt cruiser is based on the dodge neon, a compact car noted for its sprightly performance. The cruiser's taller body adds not only a unique look, but also extra room for people and cargo.  its interior volume and versatility compares well to a small suv. Yet the pt cruiser is shorter in length than a neon, making it easy to park. And it's easy on gas.  now in its fifth year, with annual sales of more than 100,000, the cruiser is a familiar sight, but people are still intrigued by it. For starters, it's difficult to define within existing automotive marketing segments, leading chrysler to call the pt cruiser too cool to categorize. That fire comes in the form of 220 horsepower in the gt; a more affordable 180-horsepower turbo is also available.  if there's anything cooler than the standard pt cruiser, it's the pt cruiser convertible. The base convertible 19,405) is similarly equipped. The gt also comes with side-impact airbags and most of the limited's luxury goodies. Leather sport seats and a power moonroof are also standard. The gt convertible 27,830) comes with all the limited and gt sedan goodies, except that its 17-inch wheels are painted rather than plated. The gt gets its chrome on its grille (optional on gt and limited sedans).  optional on both convertible models is an infinity premium sound system with an eight-channel amplifier and 368 watts peak power. Sirius satellite radio is optional 195, including a one-year subscribtion) on all but base models. Gps navigation 1100) is available on limited and gt; so is uconnect hands-free, in-vehicle communications 360), which uses bluetooth technology to link the user's cellular phone with the cruiser's stereo speakers. Limited sedans can be ordered with plastic woodgrain exterior accents 895) for the vintage town & country look. Many of the standard features on higher-line models are also available as options on the less expensive models.  the truly limited edition (with production capped at 1,700 units) pt dream cruiser series 4 convertible 30,085) features deep lava red paint, a maroon cloth convertible top, chrome grille accents and light pearl beige leather-upholstered performance seats. Seventeen-inch wheels. walkaroundthe chrysler pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930's american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and teardrop-shaped taillight lenses. But that's not all there is to the pt cruiser. The shape is intriguing, but underneath is a modern platform with front-wheel drive.  by exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's nearly 6 inches shorter than a neon. Yet with 63 inches from the pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser sedan is also 7 inches taller than the neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the gt sedan is distinguished from the other models by its chromed wheels, larger air intakes, and a spoiler on its liftgate. The spoiler 150) is optional on the limited.  the design of the convertible is quite a bit different from that of the sedan. The convertible looks shorter than the sedan, but isn't; maybe it's the single long door on each side that creates this illusion. It's certainly lower, by almost 3 inches. Closer examination reveals that the windshield is raked more radically and uses a different a-pillar design. With the top up, the convertible looks like a custom chopped-top hot rod. Pretty cool.  with its top down, the pt cruiser convertible's high tail and integrated sport bar remind us of the old volkswagen cabrio. But where the vw's side windows sealed against its symbolic roll bar (almost as on a prewar convertible sedan), the chrysler's windows seal against each other for a more modern convertible profile. Its slightly narrower and color-keyed sport bar sits behind the windows, inside the car, and is aerodynamically designed to minimize wind noise. A nice boot is provided that dresses up the appearance with the top down. The driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. The gt's silver-faced speedometer reads up to 140 mph, while the standard cruiser's speedo goes to 120. The door levers have a nice action, and the switches operate with good tactile feel, though they're not world class. The standard stereo sounds tinny; we haven't spent much time with the new infinity system. The gt also features a leather wrapped steering wheel with satin-silver spokes, and bright accents on the pedals.  roominess is a virtue in the cruiser. The sedan's 121. 5 cubic feet of interior volume is comparable to that of large cars such as the mercedes-benz s-class or lincoln town car, though it certainly doesn't have the ambience of those cars. Much of that space is a function of the cruiser's height. The roof rises toward the rear like on a chopped-top hot r.

2001 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Looks are only the beginning. introductionthere's nothing on the road quite like chrysler's new pt cruiser, and that's a big part of its fun. People from all walks and stations want a better look, intrigued by the cruiser's difficult-to-define character.  yet the really great thing about the pt cruiser is its combination of practicality and a reasonable price. Chrysler turned the automotive industry on its ear when it launched the dodge viper and plymouth prowler. Those cars showcased chrysler's design trends. Viper and prowler are great cars for serious enthusiasts who don't mind making a few sacrifices in terms of comfort and convenience. But, in a way, the pt cruiser is even more exciting because it's a real car suitable for everyday use by everyday people. When it comes to automotive styling, however, pictures speak louder than words. Yet with 63 inches from pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser is also 7 inches taller than a neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the pt cruiser has a thorough complement of safety features. Front passenger side-impact airbags are standard on the limited edition and optional on the base car. Seatbelts should always be worn, however, and the pt cruiser comes with three-point safety harnesses at all positions-including the rear seat's center position. The front belts have pyrotechnically charged tensioners, just like luxury cars, to keep the belts tight during an impact. The rear bench is equipped with child-seat tethers. interiorinside, the cruiser's t-shaped symmetrical dashboard uses painted inserts to pull exterior styling themes into the cabin. The instrument panel is clean, functional and aesthetically pleasing. The driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. Switches are concentrated in the center panel, with radial-type climate control dials and a single pair of buttons for the front windows. The door levers have a nice action and the switches operate with good tactile feel -- not world class, but a noticeable improvement over chrysler's sloppy mid-'90s standard.  the same improvement applies to the interior finish. The leather package, in particular, has a rich appearance, given the cruiser's price, with suede inserts in the doors and along the lower cushion edges.  the front seats have a reasonable amount of bolster to keep driver and passenger from sliding side to side. Perhaps more important, the seating position is upright, with a fairly high, commanding view ahead, much like a sport-utility vehicle or minivan. The front seats are mounted on tall boxes, leaving plenty of room for rear passengers to stretch their legs underneath. An auto critic who stands six feet-nine-inches tall fit comfortably front or rear, in his preferred upright seating position.  chrysler claims the pt cruiser's cabin can be configured 26 different ways. The smaller section weighs 35 pounds, and the larger, 65. The load floor measures 40 inches between the wheel wells. The rear cabin has lots of tie-downs, including a pair on the center pillars that can be used with various seat configurations.  the parcel shelf and front passenger seat increase hauling options. The shelf can be positioned at the top of the rear seatbacks for a standard privacy cover over the cargo hold. It can be lowered to a level that creates a flat floor when the rear seat backs are folded forward. In can be installed vertically across the width of the cabin to divide the cargo hold, or hung out of the tailgate as a small table. It can also be turned over so its hard-plastic underside acts like a large tray, containing drops from dripping paint cans or mud from work boots.  with the front passenger seatback folded flat onto the bottom cushion, there's a table next to the driver and in front of the rear passengers. Even better, there can be more than 8 feet of flat surface between the dashboard and the tailgate. It weighs 3123 pounds with the manual transmission, meaning each of its 150 horsepower pulls roughly 21 pounds of iron. The 2. 4 happens to be the base engine in chrysler's minivans; for the cruiser, improvements were geared toward reducing noise and vibration rather than increasing power. Peak horsepower remains at 150, with 162 foot-pounds of torque. The shifter is surprisingly precise; it's not sports-car grade, but not bad for a longer-throw gate with a lever that's a foot long. Working the gears to get the most from the engine is a pleasant proposition in nearly all circumstances.  the automatic isn't as effective as the five-speed at getting the cruiser cruising, because the 2. 4's power is biased toward higher rpm. With properly timed dips of the accelerator, there's enough torque for safe, clean overtaking on two-lane roads.  the cruiser handles more like a sedan than a minivan. It will hustle with good composure and reasonable verve. Body lean is well controlled. By design, the cruiser understeers moderately, a push that warns a driver to slow down through curves. The cruiser's strut-type independent front suspension is similar to the neon's. Its rear suspension design maximizes cargo space, but the solid rear axle bounces a bit on rough pavement. Overall, however, chrysler's suspension engineers have delivered a good balance of handling and a comfortable ride.  they've also done a fine job of masking the cruiser's height. Only in quick, hard, slalom-type maneuvers does the pt cruiser start get top heavy. Yet most drivers will never drive hard enough to notice. And in sudden, emergency-type lane changes, the pt cruiser is more composed than the typical sport-utility or minivan. At speeds beyond legal interstate limits, the cruiser is stable, and not particularly susceptible to cross winds.  a lack of noise may be the most impressive, or surprising, of all the pt cruiser's qualities. There is little wind noise, almost no tire or road noise, and just an audible whine from the drivetrain. It has better noise, vibration and harshness control than chrysler products of the mid- to late 1990s have conditioned us to expect.  front disc and rear drum brakes are standard. The cruiser is, however, a car. AM/FM✔ Power Windows✔ Tachometer✔ Climate Control✔ CD Changer✔ Aluminum Wheels✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Air Conditioning✔ Alloy Wheels

2007 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Retrowagon, and gangster convertible. introductionthe chrysler pt cruiser combines the retro look of late-'30s american iron with modern performance, efficiency and features. The pt cruiser comes in two body styles, a versatile five-door model and a not-so-versatile two-door convertible.  after a significant facelift for 2006, the 2007 chrysler pt cruiser remains relatively the same with a few additions to colors and features. New for 2007 are a few additional exterior colors and features, including a now-standard remote keyless entry on the base model and a standard console flood lamp on all models. The power liftgate comes standard for 2007.  the five-door model's tall body boasts lots of room for people and cargo. In fact, its interior volume and versatility compare well to a small suv. Yet the pt cruiser is small and easy to park.  it's also easy on gas. The lower-level models are competitively priced, and we think they make the most sense. Turbocharged models put fire under the hood, but they're pricey.  the pt cruiser convertible is one of the least expensive convertibles on the market. Its trunk is tiny and awkward, however; in fact, we can't think of a trunk that's less convenient than the one on the cruiser convertible.  the pt cruiser doesn't fit within existing automotive marketing segments, but competes on some levels with the chevy hhr, the scion xb, and the mini cooper. Like them, it is essentially a car: the pt cruiser is based on the dodge neon, a compact car noted for sprightly performance. So it drives like a car, though the handling is not as good. Cruiser is an appropriate name. lineupthe 2007 chrysler pt cruiser comes in two body styles: a five-door hatchback/wagon chrysler calls a sedan; and a two-door convertible. Both prices include automatic transmission; a manual gearbox is not available with this engine. The gt also comes with side-impact airbags, a power glass sunroof, and most of the limited's luxury goodies. Leather sport seats are also standard. The gt convertible 29,825) comes with all the limited and gt sedan goodies.  optional on all convertibles and on limited and gt sedans is a 368-watt boston acoustics premium sound system 695). Sirius satellite radio is optional on all models 195, including a one-year subscribtion). Gps navigation 1,100) is available on limited and gt; so is uconnect hands-free, in-vehicle communications 360), which uses bluetooth technology to link the user's cellular phone with the cruiser's stereo speakers. Limited sedans can be ordered with plastic woodgrain exterior accents 895). Many of the standard features on higher-line models are also available as options on the less expensive models.  safety features include front side-impact airbags, standard in gt and limited and optional 390) on the other models. Three-point safety harnesses are provided at all positions, including the rear center position, so be sure to wear them. The front belts have pyrotechnically charged tensioners, just like in luxury cars, to tighten the belts for the initial stages of an impact. The rear bench is equipped with child-seat tethers. walkaroundthe chrysler pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930s or early 1940s american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and teardrop-shaped taillight lenses.  the look was refined beginning with the 2006 models, but not drastically changed. The horizontal-themed grille does not extend below the bumper as on older models and it's topped by a prominent chrysler eagle and flanked by gently scalloped headlamps. Round foglights frame a horizontal slot in the bumper. Around back, a body-color spoiler on the liftgate is said to improve aerodynamic efficiency.  in terms of exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's shorter in overall length than most compact sedans, but it's relatively tall. Measuring 63 inches from the pavement to the highest point of its roof, it's nearly as tall as a minivan. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the design of the convertible is quite a bit different from that of the sedan. The convertible looks shorter than the sedan, but it isn't; maybe it's the single long door on each side that creates this illusion. It's lower, however, by almost three inches, which certainly alters the looks. But there's a lot more to it than that: close examination reveals that the windshield is raked more radically and uses a different a-pillar design.  with the top up, the convertible looks like a custom chopped-top hot rod. And it looks pretty cool. Drop the top and the gangstermobile turns into a chick car. With its top down, the pt cruiser convertible's high tail and integrated sport bar remind us of the old volkswagen cabrio. But where the vw's side windows sealed against its sport bar, the chrysler's windows seal against each other for a more modern convertible profile. Its slightly narrower and color-keyed sport bar sits behind the windows, inside the car, and is aerodynamically designed to minimize wind noise. A nice boot is provided that dresses up the appearance with the top down. interiorthe pt cruiser pulls its exterior styling themes into the cabin, although here, too, the retro theme is tempered a bit by a very modern-looking center stack that visually splits the vintage-styled dashboard.  the driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right, and fuel and water temperature left. Accessory switches are concentrated in the center panel, with radial-type climate control dials at the bottom. Window switches are high in the center stack, inconvenient for quick operation, forcing the driver to search for them. The door levers have a nice action, and the switches operate with good tactile feel, though they're not world class. The standard stereo sounds tinny; we haven't tried the boston accoustics system. Also, there's a separate set button for the station presets, fussier than simply holding the preset down.  a bonus of the cruiser's tall profile is its upright seating position, with a fairly high view ahead, somewhat like a sport-utility vehicle or minivan. The gt also features a leather wrapped steering wheel with satin-silver spokes, and bright accents on the pedals.  the center console incorporates a sliding armrest, replacing the seat-mounted armrests provided previously. The pt's console also includes a covered tray for concealing small items, a storage bin that holds six cds, a coin holder and fold-out cup holders for rear-seat coffee consumers. A cell-phone charger is optional.  roominess is a virtue in the cruiser. The sedan's 120. 5 cubic feet of interior volume is comparable to that of large cars such as the mercedes-benz s-class or lincoln town car, though it certainly doesn't have the ambience of those cars. Much of that space is a function o.

2002 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. And it’s practical, too. introductionit was only a matter of time. This year, as if the pt cruiser needed something to make it stand out, chrysler is offering flames as an option. Or maybe just go back in time.  flames or no flames, there's nothing on the road quite like the pt cruiser. Though it has become a familiar site, it still attracts attention., and that's a big part of its fun. People from all walks and stations want a better look, intrigued by the cruiser's difficult-to-define character. It is, as chrysler says, too cool to categorize.  yet the really great thing about the pt cruiser is its combination of practicality and reasonable price. Its affordability and practicality make it suitable for everyday use by everyday people. Front passenger side-impact airbags are standard on the limited edition and optional on the other models. The front seats are mounted on tall boxes, leaving plenty of room for rear passengers to stretch their legs underneath. An auto critic who stands six feet-nine-inches tall fit comfortably front or rear, in his preferred upright seating position. A passenger-side armrest has been added along with an underseat storage bin.  chrysler claims the pt cruiser's cabin can be configured 26 different ways. Tipping the scales at about 3123 pounds with the manual transmission, the pt cruiser sports a power to weight ratio of about 21:1. The 2. 4 happens to be the base engine in chrysler's minivans; for the cruiser, improvements were geared toward reducing noise and vibration rather than increasing power. Peak horsepower remains at 150, with 162 foot-pounds of torque. The shifter is surprisingly precise; it's not sports-car grade, but not bad for a longer-throw gate with a lever that's a foot long. Working the gears to get the most from the engine is a pleasant proposition in nearly all circumstances.  the automatic isn't as effective as the five-speed at getting the cruiser cruising, because the power is biased toward higher rpm.
